In 1993, Dr. Zhang Keqiang financed and invited Ms. Xiong Jia, Mr. Liu Sha, and Mr. Chen Jinlong to establish Huamei English Elementary School, with its campus located in the Military Sports Institute. The first batch of students consisted of a total of 89 students from two grades.
In 1995, the school moved into a newly built campus and rapidly developed into a full-time boarding school that integrates kindergarten, primary school, junior high school, high school, and international high school. The number of students in the school increased year by year to 2000, and the school successfully underwent the "Education Reserve Fund" restructuring. In 1997, the school opened the Canadian Preparatory Program.
As Huamei School entered the 21st century, its development has been steady and its achievements in educating students have begun to emerge. The school's teaching quality and unique characteristics have been widely praised, making it the first private school in Guangdong Province to be promoted to the first-level school.
Since 2016, Huamei School has formally launched its second entrepreneurial venture, with the second principal, Dr. Chen Feng, leading all Huamei staff to pursue a new dream. In 2017, Huamei School was honored as an "Advanced Collective for Education Work in Guangzhou." In 2019, the school was recognized as a "Exemplary High School in Guangzhou." In 2020, Huamei School became an IB world member school and was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Institution Award" for the 40th anniversary of private education in Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City.
